I wonder what it looks like when 8 cats simultaneously bolt in different directions?

Shocked  6.9 I felt that in my water. my pussies are not happy bunnys.  No

that's Japanese levels of jiggling. luckily no victims.

those poor nuns and monks made me very sad. Sad their beautiful churches that have stood for 1000 years, gone.

Yeah, it's tragic to lose those historic buildings. Even if they're rebuilt (which I hope they are) there's still something lost. But it's good to see you check in Mrs Figg! I'd hate to think of ancient stones falling about your head. pale

A 90 year old neighbor wandered off today,
Wearing only his underwear,
Led by his blind dog,
Into the middle of a large herd of elk,
Because a hunting dog can never forget that smell. Smile

the Celtic part of my brain thinks there is something quite beautiful and haunting about that. the Anglo-Saxon part hopes he didn't catch cold.

I find it strangely beautiful too. There was a time when the elk herd would have run from John with good reason. But somehow they accepted an ancient hunter and his ancient companion into the herd and let the two of them walk among them. John's daughter-in-law went looking for him and found the two of them out there in the meadow, wandering among the large elk, so she called quietly for them to come out for fear of stampeding them.

The temperature must have really dropped last night as, at 7AM, I took Simi out & the frost was so crisp & white it very nearly looked like a thin layer of snow........

That's not necessarily a drop in air temperature. When you have a very clear sky with low humidity, the thermal infrared that everything emits just goes up to space without being captured and re-emitted by water vapor. Since dry air would have little water vapor, it can't cool off! But the ground still can and does. Since the grass has very little thermal inertia it cools off the most, and then...frost.

So paradoxically, when the air is dry (but not bone dry), you are more likely to get frost on the leaves!
