wait, you posted something in music that wasn't Father John Misty or Kendrick Lamar? Shocked

Ariana Grande is supremely talented and I think under-rated because of her youth.  Her best showcase was Saturday Night Live:

Yeah, I try to listen to new things sometimes. Razz The artist/producer of that song (Cashmere Cat) is a Norwegian artist/producer making a bit of a splash in Los Angeles.

That was odd and doesn't really work as a music video.

Hmmm.. interesting. What does "work as a music video" necessitate iyo? Razz

Well, the dancing has to fit the music, to begin with. that was all herky-jerky avant garde stuff. the music isn't.

Fleet foxes was weird but, I like weird Very Happy & Ariana Grande was really good ! I'm not so keen on the Radio Show set up but, she was good, so was the Bruno Mars vid I clicked on after Very Happy His Wack Jacko was brilliant fun

Bruno Mars came first, I think he was even more impressive. But the professional musicians I've known can imitate just about any style, even if they concentrate on one for a living.

Ooh that is catchy Eldo! The bass is especially mm dancey.

I just got back from Rasputin Music in San Jose. (Ra Ra Ra-spu-tin!) where I spent waaaay too much money on a big old stack of cds. 138 bucks or something. I went nuts and browsed through most of the store while I was waiting for rush hour traffic to die down.

The loot:

CDs:
Infinite Arms by Band of Horses.
Everything Now and Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Honeymoon By Lana Del Rey
Amarantine, A Day Without Rain, and The Memory of Trees by Enya
Here We Stand, the Fratellis
Among My Swan by Mazzy Star
MGMT by MGMT
Muse: Live at Rome Olympic Stadium by Muse
Trouble Will Find Me by The National
Harvest Moon by Neil Young
Sunshine on Leith by The Proclaimers
Ta-dah by Scissor Sisters
Gently Weeps by Jake Shimabukuro
Wincing the Night Away by The Shins
A Hundred Million Suns by Snow Patrol
Soviet Kitsch by Regina Spektor
Miracle Mile by STRFKR
and
Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes

I've only listened to a couple CDs on the way home so far, but I thought there were some great tracks on the White Stripes album, and I'm really liking The National too. Hm.. most excited to try out the new Arcade Fire album.

Give 'em a listen if you want and let me know what you think!

Oh and I picked up DVDs of Red and White in the well-known Krzysztof Kieslowski trilogy. They didn't have Blue, so I'll have to get that elsewhere! Especially as it is probably my favourite from the series!

My dad is a huge fan of the White Stripes (and Jack White's other work with the Raconteurs, the Dead Weather, and as a solo artist), so I listened to all of their albums many times through when I was younger. We drove down to Fairfax to see them on the Icky Thump tour in 2007 which was a fairly incredibly experience for then-12 year old me. Razz I don't think I ever had a single favorite album, but Get Behind Me Satan is one of a few that stands out most in my memory, and "The Denial Twist" was/is one of my favorite songs by them. Nice, that does sound pretty memorable to see them at 12.

You saw The White Stripes at 12, I saw RotK. Razz

I think I mentioned this before, but it is The National that you hear in this bit of memorable GoT score. Funny how this piece keeps being created for the show by different groups. I mean Sigur Ros made a version too.

Still slowly working my way through more of the Smiths' discography. They've got some really good shit.

I think "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" is actually the first Smiths song I listened to, in part because I'd heard you mention it on here. A most artful expression of crabbit, indeed. Razz

Maybe I have to listen to the lyrics more closely, but what's the point of the shrubbery up his arse?

What's "The National" you are talking about? Any examples?

I'd never heard this version of "Ain't No Sunshine" before, but it came up on my dad's Pandora app yesterday. Not sure if someone behind the scenes was pushing it due to the name. Razz
