The goal may seem hopeless at times, but we must remember the Ring and how 'hopeless' things seemed at times to the Fellowship! Think of yourself as being part of the Tiger Quest, The Yellow and Black Fellowship, Petty.

Yes, our task may well be more hopeless than Frodo and Sam's at the end - but won't then our Victory be all the Greater? Hmm? Think of that, my friend!

I'm a Cats supporter And yes I did support them before they won the premiership back in 07...

They seem to be doing a Tigers-like job of breaking my heart of late, so I do sympathise

You are, of course, now a Tigers supporter... It is the unwritten Rule here that you can't be a Forumshiran unless you barrack for the Tigers*.

You made me think of something that happened years ago. I was coaching Grade 6 netball and I asked the girls what name they wanted to call their team. One of the Dad's said they should use the name of an Australian animal. He suggested a Numbat - which I think might be an species of small furry marsupial (??) native to places like Bendigo. Very Poltically Correct, methought, and Patriotic too, I guess. But the girls looked at him as if he was from Mars. (Maybe they thought Numbats were from Mars too! ) I can still remember their expresions. Priceless!

We called ourselves Camp Hill White in the end - to contrast with the other Grade 6 team, Camp Hill Blue. I guess the name didn't really matter. Having fun blissfully unaware of Environmental Politics was not such a bad thing, methinks.

And I feel the girls were wise, as they adeptly thwarted any potential comments like: "Numbats? What the f%4k are Numbats?" Which wouldn't be the kind of statement you would want youir twelve or thirteen year old daughter hearing back then. This was, of course, back ten years ago before 'f^%k" became Common Public (All Purpose) Usage by twelve and thirteen year old girls!


NB The Dad never came to games, I seem to remember. Was happy to put his quasi-politica-stamp on the girls, but not support his daughter, who I dare say, loved playing netball, and loved her Dad, and would have loved her Dad to come and cheer her on in spite of everything. You know, be there for Her and not for Him, but I guess sport didn't interest Him.

Oh well.... I guess he's still a paid up member of the Greens --- or if his politics have changed - a paid up Labourite (Commie-Socialist-Lefty) or Liberal (Tory-Republican-Fascist).
