And I was just pointing out Norc that why would you expect any charcater development between Legolas and Gimli after he became King when Pj did not bother with giving us any before?

fair point, if you think there wasn't any character development. I don't. And there isn't that much more in the book really either.

I'm still unclear as to how this guy thinks he is making statistical statements about the societies in Tolkien's world when the only data he has to go on are the family trees of a handful of noble families. Question

I'd like to know his methodology for putting that chart together because I get the sense that this is another case of him overgeneralizing from very limited data. The fact that Hobbits make up such a large portion of the chart makes me suspect that because while most of the specific genealogical information we have is Hobbit-related, it's clear from the books that Hobbits are only a small part of the overall population of Middle-earth.
