Music, Pictures & Thoughts.

Post by Turembar on Wed Mar 14, 2012 2:47 pm

Well I can't honestly say much thought went into this group. More like the jumble of thoughts in dreams or nightmares. The Jedi song is mainly silliness, but very well done and one of my favorites. Sometimes nice thoughts suddenly remind you of un-nice ones, and the rest is a comparison of activities.

Nine Inch Nails - Just like you Imagined (1999)

Liking the jedi song. Very Happy
But not sure this thread doesn't cross a few others, there is a youtube thread, and the just whatever thread, the star wars thread-not a complaint Turembar just pointing it out as threads which are a repetition of existing threads content tend to get lost in the throng.

A Kraving for Kultur

Post by Turembar on Sat Apr 07, 2012 3:08 am

Well I hope you do not mind Petty, if I changed my mind. I suppose I think this is just something specific. I don't mind it getting buried. Quite used to that. Wink

Some favorite German music.

Ougenweide - Ouwe wie jaemerliche (1976)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95EoHfFGBeU

'Wo ich in der Welt auch hinkomme, da ist keiner mehr fröhlich.
Tanzen, lachen, singen gehen in Sorgen unter.'

This is a modern song (based on period themes) written around a medieval text. Perhaps my favorite sweet song, though the words actually lament the degeneration of youth, which was apparently already a problem in the 1200s. Rolling Eyes This group was quite good in this genre, and still play today, reflecting the gentler side of music and thought that developed in post-war germany.

In Extremo - Sangerkrieg (recent)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV0Cwu1z8kE

This is an example of modern Metal Medieval. Mind the volume. The song (The Singer War) is about a historic medieval minstral singer contest that took place in the middle ages. Metal of course is everywhere, but you can find some interesting variation in different countries and regions. This group specializes in unusual period instruments. Ho... ho ho... Laughing

Project Pitchfork - Time Killer (recent)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RdavwTAJFI

This is actually, sort of the accoustic version of this song, which I prefer, and uber-cool. A Techno band basically, in which Germany abounds and sort of invented. But also a very creepy band, hence the replacement of image, with one that goes with the video. The vid is from an 80's film, Time Bandits. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

I love Time bandits, its one of my favourite films ever. Its a really sad film and a bit cruel in places, I always cry for the boy as he is left alone at the end. I always imagine that the king (sean Connery) comes back to find him and take him back to the Greek? age to be his son. Sad

I dont speak German so I dont understand the songs but I like the first one. Very Happy

Yes, a favorite of mine too. It was a very thought provoking film and unflinching. The main cast being dwarves was bittersweet. I still can watch Ian Holm's scene and chuckle. His Napoleon was hilarious. Laughing

Lol, tornado's have been in my nightmares ever since I saw that as a kid. And in daymares too. Frightening things, when all you can do is huddle in a bathtub and hope they miss.

That stop-motion short is so great! I never saw it before. It doesn't get any cuter then that.

Well this is pretty cute. At first. Laughing

Can't wait till Norc reads that!!

There is a Sherlock thread in the arts &entertainment section should provide all the info you require. (And if you havent watched it yet you are missing one of the best things on TV in years frankly).

I think its safe to say Robert Downeys Sherlock sucks jellied eels. The best Sherlocks are of course Jeremy Brett and and now Benedict Cumberwhatsit, ( never remember his name) Razz But maybe you cant get Sherlock from the BBC in the States?

you... you... Extremely Crabbit Banghead

*breath, Norc.. Breath..* you see my avatar? That is Sherlock, as portayad by Benedict Cumberbatch in the "modernised version" of our beloved Sherlock Holmes (you know, the one where Watson is played by Bilbo). RDjr SUUUCKS!! okay.. maybe he doesn't suck, but he is not Sherlock, he is a Sherlock inspired action hero set in the victorian times... excuse me now, I have to go tear up a pillow or something cause I am seriously frustrated that you've never heard of the best Sherlock series of them all! Evil or Very Mad
