RIP

Post by Pettytyrant101 on Wed Jul 04, 2012 4:26 pm

Every so often someone passes away folks feel they wish to acknowledge or pay respect or pay tribute to. So rather than making a new thread each time here's a place to say farewell.

And I wish to say RIP Erik Sykes- a great comedian- from the Goon Show onwrads he shaped modern comedy and even the sitcom format.
So here's tae yi Erik, mind what your doing n the way through the Gates with that plank- you could have someones eye out.

I couldn't agree more, a real comedy genius. Right now he will be up there somewhere sharing a pint and a laugh with the other long lost British greats; Cook, Sellars, Barker and Morecambe. RIP Erik

A hero of my childhood. Thanks to Lee I spent a lot of my childhood in the 70's running about making 'hayah' noises.

Buzz Aldrin's official statement:

And some fitting music. A song that was played on Apollo 10, which orbited the Moon, and on the Moon itself by Buzz Aldrin on Apollo 11:

I remember seeing Tommy Cooper DIE on Tv, made me feel quite ill. People thought he was mucking about.
My other sad loss is Eric Morecombe, we just dont have comedy like "Eric & Ernie" anymore, great shame. Sad

I remember when old Dunn was recalling his time in the Middle East where his Sergeant (played by the gent who plays Captain Manning) swears (beeps) every second or third word. Hilarious! Laughing Dad's Army tends to creep up on you... sad sad sad.....
