okey. behold. the translation. it's greek to everyone expect two other people on this forum. well.. to more, but they never returned Sad
anyways.

Følgjer deg ned til den raude eika

Følgjer deg ned til den raude eika
når lufta fer tjukk gjennom hole siv.
Eg vil vente på deg der, heilt til nokon kjem
for å bera meg, bera meg ned.

for å betale for løvetannfjonet

Namn blir rissa i den raude eika
til dei som blir og dei som fer
eg vill venta på deg der med bein av oske
så følg meg, følg med ned
///følg meg, følg meg ned ///

all of the lyrics (i am also very intrigued by the whole " i have stole from those who " and so on, it makes me believe it's a young person who dies)
Lyrics : Follow You Down to the Red Oak Tree

verse 1
follow you down to the red oak tree
as the air moves thick through the hollow reeds
i will wait for you there until someone comes
to carry me, carry me down

verse 2
see i have not i have not grown cold
i have stole from men who have stole from those
with their arms so thin and their skin so old
but you are young, you are young, you are young

bridge
then somebody laughs like it’s all just for hell
as though we could not be saved from the depth of the well
but the cloth that i make is a cloth you can sell
to pay for the gossamer seed

verse 3
names get carved in the red oak tree
of the ones who stay and the ones who leave
i will wait for you there with these cindered bones
so follow me follow me down
follow me follow me down
follow me follow me down
follow me follow me down

Is there a recording of it? It looks like it would be beautiful. I want to believe it's old but it's probably someone from the last few decades who actually knows how to write. Do we know who wrote it?

How can you say Brits aren't good at sandwiches? I have it under good authority that we invented the crisp sandwich.

Yummy.

Sure the next debate will be which is the perfect crisp for said sandwich.

We invented the crisp sandwich as an act of desperation due to the horribleness of our ordinary sandwiches.

And classic Cheese and Onion Ringos circa 1985 (before they screwed them up) were obviously the best. Rolling Eyes

You may be interested to know that there's a Nordic connection for the phrase "just for the hell of it." In Norwegian-American fisherman humor it's pronounced "Yust for da Halibut" and has been the punchline of many jokes. Laughing

Are you aware of Norwegian-American comedy?

A crisp sandwich? Shocked A sandwhat?

Sorry, I'm just not picturing it. The british art of sandwich making must have truly been scraping bottom. then again, I've never figured out the cucumber or watercress sandwiches either.

Bread, meat, cheese. Optional condiments. I mean, how much is there to fuck up?

Love the halibut song! I am so sure Dad has told me a similar story from the oil rig. The guys would fish and try to find places to hide their catch. Norwegian crew and American chiefs and such.
