Re: The Exodus

Post by Orwell on Thu May 16, 2013 8:45 am

I possibly over stated the island bit, but I think he was alluding that the Greater Hyksos (I think) were Pelasgians from the Greek and Anatolian mainland. (I hope David Rohl isn't reading this. I might be getting a bit jumbly with his theories pale ).

A warrior caste who maybe ruled the Palestine coastal cities and subsequently overtook Avaris as a (loosely-speaking) Palestinian-Egyptian minor empire. (My tentative terminology). (I really hope David Rohl isn't reading this! pale )

I'm fond of Rohl's chronological theories, but I've been probably alluding to the Consensus dates pretty much.

There is so much to know about such long periods of time! It's hard to get a solid picture in my head. Suspect

This is why I'm trying to focus on the Exodus period as much as I can. When was it? In the time of Ahmose is my guess. Now it's about trying to interpret all the (apparent) versions of that event in the records.

Oh, yeah obviously. In fact you can buy them pretty much from any large shop, even if they don't sell groceries at all!

That's a relief to know. Razz

Ice cream cake is a little harder to find here but I think most supermarkets carry it.

Yes, but were they Minoans first. A Minoan-Palestinian mix, maybe? Minoans? Mycenerians? Shrugging
