Just that trailer was predictable; I think I lost track of how many movies that seems to be ripping off. Razz Never heard of the TV series though, is it more original?

its odd lets put it this way, very odd, thats why its one of my favorite new series on tv. Its about a group of young delinquents having to do community service for their crimes, all of them with lets say personal demons, anyway they all get struck by lightening in a freak storm, and when they wake up they all have super powers, one can.... i wont say anymore, the characters are funny and you get to like them for all their character flaws, its worth a watch anyway.

Men in Black 3 comes out next May. I remember liking the first but being unimpressed by the second, though it's been years since I've seen either. This strikes me as another unnecessary resurrection-sequel like the fourth Pirates, only it's been what, 10 years since the last MIB? Still, I might go see it out of curiosity.

I'm sure Petty will give me movie snob hell for this, but while there have been a number of films I've really enjoyed, the David Fincher remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was the first truly great film I've seen this year. (To be fair, I've only seen about 15 films from this year; the rest of my recent viewing has been of older ones). For context, I went in loving the original book and especially the sequels, but having been bored by the Swedish film and especially it's sequels.

I think David Fincher did a fantastic job cutting down the book and stylizing it to create a very slick, tense, exciting, disturbing, but ultimately spectacular film. There were a few characters I wanted to see more of (especially Erika Berger, who got the short end of the stick in both films) and a few changes I didn't entirely understand (especially around the end), but all in all I found it to be a quite faithful adaptation as well as a great movie.

Very Happy

Supposedly Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream is now making movie flavors, and one of them is "the Swirl with the Dragon Cashew" Nod

I am quite interested to see this new filum about Maggie Thatcher played by meryl Streep, she looks spookily like her what with the mannerisms and all.

The performance looks amazing- the content dubious and quite possibly tasteless and the glossing over what she did to the north of England and to Scotland unforvgivable. I'll be boycotting this one I'm afraid- I marched against Thatcher I have no desire to see Hollywood treat her as some sort of hero.

yes I marched against her government too on various occasions, specially the Poll tax and the miners was horrific, it was a terrible time for all the weakest members of society, and I loathed her heartily at the time. It was akin to a silent civil war some of the things they did to the pensioners, it was thankfully a long time ago and now I am calmer about it I find it interesting what Hollywood spin they are going to come up with. She was a monster but an interesting monster non the less. At least she wasnt the horrific John mad cow Major.

I watched the excellent bbc4 drama about her and have watched several documentaries but I find what I have been hearing about this film uncomfortable. Not just the glossing over of what she did to so many of the most vulrenable, or the pattern of destruction she set in motion in communities all over the country from which we still suffer today, but to portray her as remembering all this in her dementia whilst she thinks she is talking to her dead husband, when the woman is still alive and her actual health completely unknown, I find inappropriate.

I didnt know they were doing that, with the dementia, that is, it sounds very insensitive, if not to her, to her family, I havent actually read anything about the film yet, I just saw the photos and thought Meryl looked remarkably like her. you can boycott it if you want but I prefer to make my mind up after I have seen it, it doesnt make someone politically naive just because they are interested to see a controversial figure being portrayed, I wouldnt boycott a film if it portrayed Pol Pot or other unsavory characters, if they had an interesting story to tell, it depends on how critically aware you are. its easy taking the moral highground once its all over. I lived through the excesses of thatcherism too and I may be totally against all she stood for but I am interested too in how they handle the nitty gritty.

From the clips I have seen her perfomrance is nothing less than astonishing- its the content I am finding distasteful.

It's definitely fantastic. Very Happy I discovered it just a few weeks ago thanks to Petty on here and watched both series, then turned around and watched them again with my family. Laughing We all loved it, though I wish we didn't have to wait for the next series.

The show starts off great and the second series is in my opinion even better than the first. Very Happy Keep us posted on your thoughts!

I WILL! next episode is shown next tuesday! I am recording it all since I don't have the time to see it on tuesday Sad Very Happy I just love the humour! and all the times everyone hints to that Holmes may be gay, he never really gives a clear answer (not that I am a fanfictionist who would love to dig into those things, I am not, I just like the way it can be interpreted in different ways, which is a theme I found everywhere.) I also loved how u never really could guess what would happen next.

I have recorded the episode too, hoping to see it very soon. Smile

You know BBC reads fanfics when they deliver scenes like this one from Merlin. Laughing

I think sherlock is great, really excellent, but its Martin Freeman that makes it special for me, I doubt if i would like it as much without him, dont get me wrong Cumberbutch is great in the role, but Martin makes it extra special.
