I also watched it. Though I also felt it was a bit anti-climatic with not too much happening, and some things that could have been handled better.

Not that I didn't enjoy it.  Razz

It was interesting from a book perspective too, as I think it consisted mostly of newly written scenes and very little book stuff.

Yeah, Norc has a point about marking the spoilers.

Actually only my "I have finished book 5" post is book 5 related.

The others are all about book 3 stuff and specifically...
Spoiler:

who poisoned Jeoffrey.
(And that one everyone who has watched the fourth season can safely read.)

Would be interested to hear what you think of book 5 when you finish it though. Nod

book one = series one
book two = series two
book three part one (?) = series 3 (?)
book three part two =series 4..??
and then there is a fourth and a fifth book? or is it the fifth that is in the making? how many books are there?

You are right as far as the series goes. As for the books it gets a bit more complicated.

Book 4 and 5 take place at the same time, but George split the characters geographically as it was getting too long. So you have one set of characters in one book and others in the other. Then at the end of book 5 some of the characters from book 4 pop up again. It's a bit of a mess really.

So for all intents and purposes you could see book 4 and 5 as one massive book.

The sixth is the one in the making.

I think the paperback editions are split in two, yes. Though I'm not really sure about any other releases.

Yeah, book three was split into two seasons.  However, the books are not strictly chronological so some material from books four and five is already cropping up in the TV series.  There are at least two more books yet to be completed, which means the series is probably going to pass the books soon, and will (presumably) start covering material that has not yet appeared in print.

If you're trying to alternate between reading the books and watching seasons of the TV series, I wouldn't really recommend it. You might get through the first book/season okay, but you're going to get spoiled one way or another doing that.

I think Norc meant the seasons, but yes, several of the books were published in multiple volumes in Europe.

Hm, the only thing I can thnk of is the Theon stuff in season 4 which actually takes place in book 5. But they haven't really gotten into anything substantial in that yet.

I don't think you would actually spoil anything really before you get into book 4, though we'll have to see how season 4 finishes up with book 3 first I guess.

That's fine. Smile

I finished the first book on the 6th of March and the second on the 26th, meaning I've gone through the last three in under a month.  Shocked

Book four is rather short compared to the others though.

Blue do you mean book 4 as in book 3 part 2?

Actual book 4 is quite big... taking me ages.

I meant A Feast for Crows.  Wink

It's only about 45 chapters, so a bit shorter than A Storm of Swords (81) and A Dance with Dragons (72). Though I get that you see it a bit differently when you read book 3 in two parts. I did the whole thing in one go.

This is great.

I particularily like the description of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as "A Disney villain. The handsome prince that you're rooting against." Razz

And Peter Dinklage is hilarious.
