Wish he'd taken a picture 30 years ago for comparison.  Shocked

Yeah, that would have been interesting ! I wish I knew how it happened, it doesnt seem to bother the tree, & the wall seems unaffected ?

Just guessing from the look of it. I'd say the tree was a lot older than the wall. Probably there was a lower, less private fence that surrounded the yard through most of the 20th century as the tree was growing. Then some owner in the 70's or 80's wanted more privacy and hired a very good mason to build the wall right up to touching the tree so people couldn't peek. Since then, the tree has grown further and surrounded the brick as it would a stone in nature. The most surprising thing is that the brickwork hasn't cracked as the tree moves. That's why I say a good mason did the job.

Well, I'm back. Smile

Now what did i do over Easter? I walked, I went mountain climbing (-ish (Very -ish actually. I walked up the more gentle side of a hill but went down a path on the steeper slope on the other side and took a wrong turn somewhere and had to push through some trees and scramble down a bit.)) went swimming (God, that was cold.), went to a concert and spent some time with family and stuff.

I thought the point of having time off was to do less, Razz  but I had a great time.

I have some pictures (too many probably, and I never know which to pick), but this turned out quite nice.

Rolling Eyes
Ringene = the rings
Ringenes = the rings'
Herre = lord
(ringdrotten means the same, drotte being an old word for king or lord, drotten is the king/lord)

Konge = king
Atter = again, has another meaning something like "coming back" or "returning", not totally like again
en = the/an/a

no, not fucking german!

But it looks like German, and to the English ear all german is kind of ridiculous. Fjordlandian may just be a step deeper into hilarity.
