Ugh, I do not have the highest hopes for this new Luc Besson production. If the film receives favourable reviews I'm sure I'll flip back over to the pro-side of things, but Besson can produce some pretty bad stuff.
With films like Leon the Professional and Angel-A I am uncomfortable with his sexualization of female characters. The former has these strange hints of sexual tension between Natalie Portman's character of the young girl and Leon the hitman, while the latter (which I've only seen parts of) goes out of its way to show off the body of Angela.
I don't know, he's just not a director I much care for. I'm sure this "Lucy" will display his interest in showcasing young attractive females.

#TaxiDriver

I never got those hints you are talking about, but then they are French. I liked 5th Element.

Well Mrs. Figg, how about the scene in which Natalie Portman's character Mathilda (who is about 11 years old) tells the concierge of their hotel that Jean Reno's character Leon (in his forties) is not actually her daddy, but is her lover.

She is simply being naughty and, despite the crumminess of her neighborhood, might not fully realize what she's talking about, but the inclusion of things like that can be rather uncomfortable, especially considering how mature she is for her age. Their relationship is fine, Leon is very caring, but why would Luc Besson include a scene like that? It's very French, perhaps, but I don't much like it.

I mean the concierge ends up kicking them both out because he believes her and is unsettled by it. There is no refutation made in the film by any character and the topic is not touched again. The film presents it in a tongue-in-cheek way, so that we know she was simply joking around, but still, I don't like it.
Of course it doesn't help that I am biased against the film, having known a guy who really liked it and who had (as I became aware of after my acquaintance with him) sexually abused a young girl that age in the past. I'm not claiming any real connection between the film and this guy, as noone is fully evil. And it's not as though a person who has done terrible things cannot also do good things or like good things, but that awareness shades my opinion.
It must just be a French thing.

I actually want to visit Milwaukee almost solely because of Mike and Jay.  It's not like I expect to meet them or anything, but Half in the Bag paints such an entertaining picture of the place that I want to know what the reality is like. Laughing If I ever find myself in the upper Midwest I'll have to make a detour there. Smile

Nah, the Watchman. He had a cameo appearance in their review of Super.
