Re: Future releases [2]
The first movie was about as nearly perfect as they come, so I keep hoping. This one doesn't seem so hopeful but we'll see. I barely remember the second and third movie, didn't bother to see the fourth.

Re: Future releases [2]
Ooh, yes please!
I do think it's unfortunate that they appear to be rehashing the base plot of Dead Man's Chest. Sparrow being sought after by "death" is preeeeetty familiar-sounding. But then my nostalgia is being worked too heavily for me to resist.

Re: Future releases [2]
Yeah, I was a little surprised by just how much like DMC the trailer was. Hope the full film is a little more distinctive.
Since we're talking about the earlier films, here's my thoughts (copied from a post I wrote on another forum because I'm lazy):
Since we're talking about the earlier films, here's my thoughts (copied from a post I wrote on another forum because I'm lazy):
Curse of the Black Pearl is a modern action/adventure classic.
Dead Man's Chest is a lot of fun and a worthy sequel in the way it expanded the setting even if it's not as good.
At World's End is flawed in many ways and too ambitious by half but still entertaining enough to be worth watching if you like the characters.
Most of the time I just pretend that On Stranger Tides doesn't exist.
Re: Future releases [2]
To be fair, I rather enjoyed the beginning of On Stranger Tides. I thought that showing Jack Sparrow committing one of his past crimes ("impersonating a magistrate") landed just on the good side of fan-service.

Re: Future releases [2]
I shall watch it nonetheless
I like these soppy films tho it can be a bit heavy handed with " I am captain Jack Sparrow" etc etc .There is stuff you could nitpick but, its escapism, which I love

In reference to another thread, in Asian movies you always feel the young upstarts earned their abilities. That's what makes them so hot. We just can't seem to reproduce the concept of ultimate training in the West.

Re: Future releases [2]
I love chop socky films for just this reason
they are beautiful to watch, charismatic, romantically tradgic, and... women are seen as equal to men. they can fight as well or better & no one batts an eyelid. They can still be ravished the same as any woman in any town or city but, I dunno, I just love it when they kick arse !!!

Danny Boyle doesn't sugar coat things. You see them as he see's them.
